About

Phalombe Teacher Training College is one of the Public Primary Teacher Training Colleges in Malawi.

It is found in Phalombe district, about thirteen kilometres from Phalombe Boma, at Migowi Trading Centre.

It became operational on 4th May 2015 and was officially opened by His Excellency Professor Peter Mutharika on 27th June 2017.

The college has so far graduated four cohorts of students that include IPTEs 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, & 17.

The college has been doing some innovative projects and initiatives such as:

  • Climate Change which is funded by Press Trust from 2018 to date where the communities are involved in tree planting through their Youth Clubs.
  • Procurement of 300 chairs, 300 tables, 300 beds and 300 mattresses for students from Press Trust funding in 2019
  • Growing together with a tree’ in which trees are given to primary schools where learners plant and care for their trees as they grow.
  • Takes a lead in civic educating the public on different crosscutting issues through music.
  • Promoting use of critical thinking methods.
  • Through Quality assurance, the college trains members of staff and students on Safety and other emergencies every year
